Post about POL Enshrined Restaking
POL delivers the benefits of multi-chain staking without the added risks of restaking. With the Polygon 2.0 proposal, the Polygon Ecosystem will expand from a single chain to an ecosystem of layer two (L2s) that can easily interoperate and share liquidity with each other.
In Polygon 2.0, POL is staked in the staking hub. Therefore, “enshrined restaking” approach is the process whereby POL can be restaked to validate any number of chains on the network. Meanwhile POL can natively be used to staked multiple number of chains and participate in any number of roles equally, this in turn let stakers to earn higher rewards with the same capital.
Polygon POS will become an L2 in Polygon’s network of zk-powered L2s. In this case, validators can secure the hub, run provers to generate proofs, and batch transactions as a sequencer. The increased number of roles validators can play and chains that can be validated requires a new token design to power the network.
The innovation of POL on restaking is two basic dimension. They are;
- Enshrined restaking fully avoids reliance on trusted third (3rd) parties thereby creating fewer vectors of centralization.
- POL can be used for more than just securing chains but it can also secure Agg layer, DACs, and more.
In conclusion, POL is designed from ground up to be the first hyperproductive token but a third generation token by token design. The order of asset tokens are:
- 1st generation is BTC where there is no way for holders to participate in the network.
- 2nd generation is ETH where holders can stake to secure the network.
- 3rd generation is POL where holders can secure multiple networks and play multiple roles.
I say all that from the beginning to make this final point “POL is a massive technical upgrade to Matic”.
